"Liz Mitchell, the original lead singer of iconic 70s disco group Boney M. and one of the UK’s most successful singers of all time, is performing a special free concert on Facebook this Christmas to celebrate her 50 year career. Having been unable to tour since March, Liz is keen to reach out to her global fan base this Christmas - while celebrating her 50th career anniversary.
Liz said: “It’s been a very difficult year for everyone, and while I’ve not been able to perform since February I wanted to do something for all the people around the world who remember and love the music, particularly those who bought tickets for shows this year which we had to cancel. “I also wanted to mark my incredible 50 years in the industry. I can’t believe it’s been that long since I was sent to what was West Germany to perform on stage professionally for the first time. I became friends with someone else in the chorus line keen to make it big called Donna Summer, and it’s fair to say we both did pretty well over the next few years." Excerpt from Press Release
Liz is the only woman to sing three singles in UK All-Time Top 20 will perform classic hits including Rivers of Babylon, Brown Girl in the Ring and Mary’s Boy Child.
This will be an Intimate ‘Reggae Christmas’ show from Liz’s Oxfordshire home where she will be celebrating her Jamaican roots, featuring special lockdown backing group

“The show in December will be a special, intimate performance from my home studio, with a reggae theme because that’s the music that’s always been in my heart. Reggae and blues beat was part of my upbringing in Jamaica, and I sang in reggae bands in the early 70s, while Boney M. covered No Woman, No Cry on the B-side of Daddy Cool 18-months after the Bob Marley original.
“I’ve created a very special band for this performance, who are all local to us in Oxfordshire, including members of my church which is very important to me.”
The show also marks the release last month of Liz’s entire back catalogue on streaming and download services. Liz has released five solo albums plus several singles and EPs, including critically-acclaimed spiritual album Let It Be in 2004. In total over 80 Liz Mitchell solo tracks have now been released including previously unreleased material, available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Deezer, Tidal and other platforms."
