Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa Appointed Ambassador for Global Fair Pay Charter (UNITAR) for Portugal, Honored with Prestigious Accolades. Highlighting Commitment to Equity, Diplomacy and Cultural Stewardship

 In a distinguished ceremony at Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa was formally appointed Ambassador for the United Nations (UN) and Fair Pay Foundation’s Global Fair Pay Charter for Portugal. The event also saw Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa bestowed with the rare Medal of Peace, a prestigious honor conveyed to London from New York by the Mayor of London in recognition of his tireless advocacy for social justice and international cooperation.

 The appointment underscores Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa’s dedication to advancing equitable labor practices and economic fairness worldwide.  In his new role, he will spearhead initiatives to promote the Global Fair Pay Charter across Portugal, collaborating with governments, businesses, and civil society to bridge wage gaps and foster inclusive growth.

As a global hospitality leader, he has been recognized for his contributions to peace and diplomacy.  Being appointed as an Ambassador for the United Nations in Portugal is a significant honor, reflecting his leadership and influence within the hospitality industry on an international level.  His receipt of The Medal of Peace Award from the United Nations, in London, further highlights his commitment to fostering global harmony.

Additionally, receiving a Knighthood from HRH Dom Duarte Pio, the Duke of Bragança and head of the Portuguese Royal Family on Monday 30th September 2024, added another prestigious accolade to his career.  The knighthood is a historic honor that underscores his significant contributions not only to his profession but also to global diplomacy and cultural relations between nations.

 



A Year of Honors: 2025 Accolades and Leadership The honors continue into 2025 as Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa ascends to further prominence on the global stage:

January 2025: Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa was formally invested as Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa, KCR KCRC, having been named Special Cultural Adviser to the Crown Council of the Royal House of Hawaii, a role affirming his expertise in fostering cross-cultural dialogue and heritage preservation.

February 2025: Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa received a Knighthood, (Knight Commander KCR) in the presence of King Yuhi of Rawanda, Senator Emanuel Jones (Atlanta US) Governor of Nevada and Supreme Commander of Philippines, Mr Domingo Under Secretary Philippines Govt from the Philippines, celebrating his contributions to international diplomacy and humanitarian efforts. 

March 2025: Sir Asif Nisar Bajwa will be travelling to Portugal to secure commitments from Azores Tea Company and Lisbon Tea Company to adopt the UN Global Fair Pay Charter, supported by esteemed Sir Sheikh Aliur Rahman, OBE

This initiative aims to set a benchmark for ethical labor standards in the agricultural sector.
